汉密尔顿为美国构建的货币金融体系五大支柱：

其一,统一的国债市场；其二，中央银行主导的银行体系；其三，统一的铸币体系（金、银复本位制）；其四，以关税和消费税为主体的税收体系；其五，鼓励制造业发展的金融贸易政策。

在首都地点的选取上，南方人觉得纽约太北，要求南移，同时他们不愿意让政府承担国债。而北方人愿意承担国债，不太在意首都地点。于是双方达成一致：首都往南建到费城的位置，南方人也同意承担国债。于是弗吉尼亚州和马里兰州划了一块地作为联邦区域，即“哥伦比亚特区DistrictofColumbia，为纪念华盛顿，叫WashingtonD.C.华盛顿特区。
